GreatWall International Cancer Center
Dr. Franco Lugnani, President of International society of Cryosurgery, paid a visit to Beijing
GreatWall International Cancer Center (BGWICC) and gave a lecture on Tumor Cryosurgery
for doctors on September 18th, 2008.

After the lecture, Dr. Lugnani cooperated with Dr. Niu (trained in Harford University for four
years), director of BGWICC, and Dr. Ao Guokun (Trained in Freiburg University School of
Medicine in Germany), to cryoablate the 5.7×5.5cm tumor mass for a lung cancer patient
successfully.

Patient information
Name: Mr. Han
Age: 60
Diagnosis: Lung Adenocarcinoma, with 5.7×5.5cm tumor mass in upper lobe of right lung and
liver metastases (largest is 4×4.5cm)
Treatment: Dr. Lugnani cooperated with Dr. Niu and Dr. Ao to cryoablate the 5.7×5.5cm
tumor mass in upper lobe of right lung. One week before, Dr. Niu had cryoablated the largest
metastasis in liver (4×4.5cm) one week before Dr. Lugnani came.

Followup Treatment: Large tumor masses being ablated in liver and lung, relieves the patient’
s pain and provides a good condition for followup treatment. There are still tiny scattered
cancer in the patient, and his immune system is very poor.  Followup treatments include
gentle chemo and antiangiogensis to clear cancerous cells, and CIK immontherapy to
prevent recurrence and metastasis, and to improve the quality of life.

Before the treatment, 5.7×5.5cm tumor mass in upper lobe of right lung.

Three dimensioned guide during the treatment, three cryo-probes are applied to ablate
                     the mass

After the treatment, cryoablation killed all the cancerous cell in5.7×5.5cm tumor
